2002-09-24 - 8:09 a.m. #1 so here i am on this cork bobbing in the water and suddenly i'm reminded why i used to like land so much but nevermind about that when the sun is reflecting off the liquidy blue and smooth it feels like the sunbeams are cooling themselves off before hitting my cheeks and wow this is neat but i couldn't help but notice that i was browning where my beard wasn't not feeling the usual heat so i began thinking yes right there on my floating cork i began thinking that when sunbeams hit the water they dip just below the surface for a nanosecond of relief and then immediately shoot upward at an angle directly related to the angle of their entry because the physics of light cannot be ignored but perhaps it can be delayed and because the sunbeams they have come a very long way and it would make sense that they'd need to cool off before finding a rest on my cheeks or that whale fluke or the underside of that seagull over there which seems to have a better idea of where it's going than me and my cork because it's hard to know where the bow is on a vessel that is round #2 seismic in my chest and the winter fairies are hanging around longer and longer these days the twilight omnipotentence gives them away because they use the light that would normally be there to follow the shadow that can be seen from space it's where the color ends #3 Written by a Dog I ruff bury my love each night ruff in a dif-ruff-ent secret place in the yard humans ruff have yet to dis-ruff-ver the thrill of refinding ruff your love every-ruff day of the week. i've got a bag of sharpies so I don't lose my way my breadcrumbs a single line behind me when one color runs out another starts a rainbow trails me everywhere i go Don't be a mouse, be a lion
